Brainjo Jam Banjo Cruise Questions?

In general, our banjo time will be in the mornings and evenings, and afternoon times will be for enjoying other aspects of the cruising experience.

Morning sessions will include things like warm ups, song tutorials, and preparations for the evening jam sessions. Our evening sessions will be focused entirely on playing music together.

In addition , every attendee will have the option to have a one-on-one “skills audit” session with me (“me” being Josh), where I’ll assess where you are on the learning timeline, and help you develop a plan to move forward.

The goal here is for you to get plenty of opportunities to play music with others in a comfortable, low pressure, and friendly atmosphere where the primary goal is to help you have tons of fun and get the most out of the experience.

In general, the experience is best suited for those at the late beginner stage and up. To get the most out of the experience, it is recommended that you be able to do the following by the time of the cruise:

  • Be able execute the fundamental picking and fretting techniques (fretting and picking the strings, and be somewhat comfortable with hammer-ons and pull-offs)
  • Know and be able to change between the first position major chord shapes for standard G tuning.
  • Know basic music concepts like what a musical key, scale, and chords are.

Once you’ve registered, you will also be sent information in advance on ways to prepare for the experience.

It’s for both!

This cruise accepts pickers who strike their strings in all directions.

There are 3 different room options. The price you see below includes your accommodations, meals, and all banjo-related tuition and festivities!

$500 is due at the time of registration, and the remainder will be due by February 10.

  • Interior Stateroom: $1850.
  • Ocean View Room: $1965.
  • Ocean View with Balcony: $2040.

If you’d like to bring a non-playing companion, it is an additional $250.

Yes! You can bring a non-banjo-playing companion along with you at a cost of $250.

There will be an option when you register for you to let us know you’ll be bringing someone with you.

Absolutely. We’ll try our best to schedule the banjo festivities around the cruise related activities. And there will be no scheduled activities during the time we have at port, so that you can take advantage of a port excursion if you so desire!

That said, you’re more than welcome to make your own schedule!

Your intrepid leader on this audacious expedition will be Dr. Josh Turknett, founder of Brainjo and creator of the Brainjo Method of instruction.

I know it sounds like too many awesome things at the same time. But I assure you it is 100 percent real.
